It's 1825, and while Josef Jungmann is publishing the first Czech-written literary history – "History of Czech Literature" – in England, crowds of people are witnessing an unprecedented event. The first public ride of a steam locomotive with passengers, driven by none other than its own designer: George Stephenson and his steam engine, Locomotion No. 1.
This takes place on the railway connecting Stockton and Darlington. While the crowds cheer enthusiastically and enjoy the ride at speeds of up to 24 km/h, local farmers along the track are less understanding. They fear that their hens will stop laying eggs and their cows' milk production will suffer.
The steam age was about to begin!
