The 477.0 series locomotive is the last type of steam locomotive produced in ČKD for ČSD. In 1951-52 and 1955, 60 units were built and were intended for fast suburban transport. Their maximum speed is 100 km/h.
The locomotive owes its nickname (Papoušek = Parrot) to its exterior paintwork of a combination of blue boiler, box and tender, red running gear and red and white accessories, reminiscent of a colourful parrot.
Of the 60 examples produced, three have survived to the present day - the non-operational locomotives 477 043 and 060 in Bohemia, and the operational 477 013 in Slovakia.
